Do you have an inspiring story of a project or initiative in collaboration with a parent or mentor? The youth bursary application process is really simple and can be completed on-line. For more information go to the Youth Bursaries tab.
Any teenaged Canadian citizen is eligible to apply for a youth bursary if they have an inspiring story of a project, initiative, or adventure that they have collaborated on with a parent or mentor. Ages 13-19 as of the April 30th application deadline each year. Interested in applying?
An Awards Selection Committee made up of individuals from across Canada make the selection. Selection criteria can be found here. The Awards Selection Committee allows the founders of the foundation to remain arms lengths and able to have more involved interaction with the bursary applicants.
Tidbits of Change Bursaries Application Evaluation Process
Step One
All applications will be reviewed by the Tidbits of Change Foundation staff. Follow-up interviews may be conducted. A recommended list of candidates to be considered for the awards will be submitted to the Foundation's Advisory Board and the Awards Selection Committee – made up of 20-30 individuals from across Canada. The list will be submitted unranked and in random order. The target number of candidates for the list is to be at minimum twice the number of bursary awards being made available.
Step Two
The Foundation's Advisory Board will review all the applications. If there is consensus among the Advisory Board that an applicant was unjustly left off the candidates list sent to the Awards Selection Committee, the said applicant will be added to the list and a review of the process with the Foundation staff will ensue.
Step Three
The Awards Selection Committee, diverse individuals from across Canada, will independently review and vote on the applications for the purpose of ranking them for the awards. The rankings will be combined and reviewed by the Foundation's Advisory Board to determine final bursary recipients. In the unlikely event that the Foundation's Advisory Board determines that the outcome of the ranking is unjust – they can ask the Awards Selection Committee to revaluate and revote to confirm.
